New York, NY (April 14, 2022) – Stash101, an immersive education platform for students and teachers from fintech pioneer Stash, is partnering with the Marcy Lab School (Marcy), a Brooklyn-based college alternative, to provide its students with financial literacy tools to  build wealth for their families and communities.  This new  collaboration aligns two rising-star organizations focused on changing the status quo. Both Stash101 and Marcy offer hands-on education that empowers the next generation to take charge of their own destiny and improve their financial future.

“Marcy Lab is tackling some of our country’s most pressing problems: the exorbitant price of a great college education and the barriers to entry into STEAM careers for students of minority backgrounds,” says Dale Sperling, CMO of Stash and general manager of Stash101. “Stash101 is equally as committed to closing the wealth gap. We’re thrilled they’ve selected us as an education partner and that we can help support their goals with our proven curriculum and approach.”

Marcy serves traditionally underrepresented  students who seek purpose-driven careers in tech, and was founded by two former New York City Public School educators. Fellows at Marcy train for a full year free-of-cost in software development and leadership skills to become software engineers with an average graduate salary of over $100,000.

As a part of the partnership, the Stash101 team of education experts trained Marcy instructors on personal finance, retirement, and investing. The interactive curriculum aims to expose young adults to real-world lessons that start with the basics before moving into behavioral economics, the racial wealth gap, and financial decision-making. To celebrate the completion of the course, Stash will award students $50 to jumpstart their wealth building journey on Stash.

“Our mission at Marcy Lab is to provide an exceptional post-secondary education experience to propel underestimated students into financially-rewarding careers,” said Reuben Ogbonna, Executive Director of the Marcy Lab School. “Financial literacy is a critical component of that education and it’s missing at even the most high-caliber universities. We are thrilled that this new partnership with Stash101 will help support our fellows and graduates on their path to material economic mobility and generational wealth.”
